One of our chickens had a funny turn this morning. She seemed to lose her balance spread her wings presumably to keep upright and squatted with the right foot folded back under her belly. Went very quiet/subdued for about  an hour. I put her into a large box to separate her from our 2nd chicken. Put some water and a little food treat.She then munched the treat and within ten minutes perked up. I wondered if she might have had a small stroke. Can chickens have strokes?

Yes I believe they can have stokes, but if she perked up so quickly it must have been a minor one.  If there are no other signs of illness, there isn’t much you can do bar keep an eye on her.
