Title: Flymo GLM Rotovator reverse pulley arm spring - Help!
Post by: Dutton05 on May 03, 2021, 17:26
This is my first post, so if I have missed any rules please let me know! Have looked through old posts but not found an answer. I have recently acquired a Flymo GLM Rotavator which I intend to use to try to tame our rather overgrown garden to create some areas for vegetable growing.
I bought new belts off eBay as the reverse didn't appear to be running properly and the forward belt looked about ready to disintegrate - I am not convinced the eBay seller has supplied the right reverse belt, but first I have another problem! The idler arm did not appear to have any tension and when I took it off this is the spring I discovered - it doesn't look broken and does seem to match the parts manual online. The end with the hook is straightforward enough and obviously engages with the bottom edge of the idler arm - But where does the other end rest - there is no obvious sign and it appeared to just be loose behind the arm.
Can anyone help or advise - a photo of a properly set up one would be great!

Thanks Jezza - but that pulley arrangement looks quite different - I believe the Flymo GLM is equivalent to the Norlett 5000 model? The spring is on the Flymo parts list - item No. 53 on the sheet below.
