Post by: franco on March 06, 2021, 17:54
Hi if this has been covered before i apologise ...have just got said rotavator out of shed ,used last year no trouble. On starting this year started ok but throttle has no effect and running at full speed ,throttle linkage ok and can be seen moving under carb. but to no effect .Any help would be greatly appreciated ...has been suggested it's the governor but where is that situated ?.....thanks Franco

Hello if it's an older type engine the governor should be at the bottom of the engine stuck out on a bar connected to the side of the carburetor, its like a butterfly in side the engine it could be the spring that's come off at the carburetor end ,the newer engines have an air governor a flap on the engine near the flywheel that pulls a bar on the carburetor  that has a spring on it,there could be muck between the flywheel and the flap or even a mouse nest if one could get in     jezza

Thanks Jezza for info ,have looked and there appears to be a linkage under the air cleaner independent of choke and throttle but can see no spring or feel tension .Do I get at it by taking air cleaner and body off ? as access is very awkward.....thanks franco
