Title: Greenhouse recommendations
Post by: blue_cortina on January 08, 2008, 18:26
Hi

We're considering buying a small(ish) greenhouse for our garden. It would have to be polycardb as we've got enthusiatic children... I was wondering if anybody could recommend makes/suppliers etc and what to look out for....cheers

I wondered if these people were any good ?
GardenBuildingsDirect (http://www.gardenbuildingsdirect.co.uk/) possibly a Palram make ?

Regards
Jez

I just had a look at he palram greenhouse. It looks to me like quite a good make.
always get the biggest you can though, its surprising how quickly you can fill one up. We can only have a small greenhouse at home, and it's nowhere near big enough to grow tomatos in, but just about right (with a cold frame) to get all the seeds started.

That was me - always listen to your uncle Dave!

(I've put a link back into the URL, in your post, as the full one was taking up about 3 screens width!).

I'd recommend Elite Greenhouses

http://www.elite-greenhouses.co.uk

Great product, although their instructions leave a little to be desired. A bit like Donald's paper flowerpots...

Sorry and thanks, I don't know how to do these things, I just copied it!  Well the polytunnel (if it doesn't blow away, we still haven't put it up, have to level the ground first) is a metre bigger than the greenhouse we're allowed, so we'll see how we get on.  I'm too impatient and when no one answered me immediately (very rare for this group  ) I just went ahead and bought it anyway, sigh.

You bought it only 25 minutes after posting     P.S. 5pm is usually a pretty quiet time on here

Hi

Still wondering which to buy...(And we've only just made the space for it).. we're now considering the Halls Supreme  thought it would be a nice looking addition to the garden..

They're mentioned on this website...LINK (http://www.allotment-garden.org/greenhouse/Greenhouse_Glasshouse/garden-68.html)

Does anybody here have any thoughts on their suitability for a garden...thanks

I have to say, that, as we speak my cheapo polytunnel is STILL standing, with only bricks and tyres keeping it in place!  And we've had our share of storms, thank you
