That what I did but only got ones coming from the states. Oh well thanks, I'm looking into the one in your link, it looks good. :)

Oh what a shame, just seen this is from the states too. Just makes it a more difficult if it has to be returned for any reason.

strange because it does say uk supplier, so you would expect they would have to sort out any faults.

I bought that model from amazon but it was a US supplier. It arrived in good condition and it has been brilliant! I love it! Took a risk and it was worth it.  ;)

Unless you see an obvious crack in the pot or lid on receipt, there's really nothing to go wrong with them, so I wouldn't worry about it being a US supplier.  Presto and All American are the two most popular brands and are of good quality.

I love the look of the All American. Strange that its still so hard to find them in the UK. Last few years I've been taking a chance and just using the water bath method but I worry if someone other than me is going to eat the stuff.

There's not much canning done in the uk.  I think it went out of popularity after some people died of Botulism (way back when I was a child).

I've tried to get hold of a jar sealing vacuum device for my vacuum bagger so that I can store dried herbs and fruits in jars.  Not available in the UK at all and cost a fortune from the States :(

Have a look here:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xsugden&_nkw=all+american+canner&_sacat=0&_from=R40

Still from the States, but the Presto on Amazon.co.uk isn't all that cheap and the spares were an outrageous price the last time I looked.

I'm keen to get one too... If we keep this up, demand will rise and Amazon will start to supply them.

Clicking the link doesn't work for me - I have to copy and paste it into Google for it to work  ;)

Very odd, doesn't work for me either now. Perhaps because it's ebay and they change their listings. Thanks for the help, MoS.

Anyway, if you search in ebay.co.uk for all-american canner, you should see a decent selection, including spare parts.

The delivery charge on most of them is more than the item .:(

There must be somewhere in the uk that has them. Theres at least 2 of us just in this topic that's wants one and kate has already taken the leap and bought one so the demand must be there.

I've contact Lakeland today and asked if they have any plans to sell them. Also looked at a few kitchen equipment suppliers but no luck at all. Strange that so many companies sell the jars but not the canner.

At one point, Amazon.co.uk had the All-American 21.5 quart canner. But by the time I had finished humming and hahing and working out how I could justify the expense, it was sold. That was a few weeks back. Maybe if we wait and keep doing searches on their site, they'll restock it.

I had a look at the charges. In pounds, as far as I can see, the 21.5 quart canner is given as about 26 pounds for delivery and a bit more than that for import charges. Maybe I've missed something.

If you have a look at the Ball mason jars on Amazon.co.uk, a lot of them are listed as available from UK suppliers but as far as I can see they are dispatched from the States.

I've found this very nice site   http://pantryparatus.com/our-store.html   who sell the All American canner in all sizes. It is in the states but the lady has emailed me and suggests I use Bongo International - the mind bogles  :) - for delivery as they are very much cheaper.  Any thoughts :)

I've heard of them and you simply tell them what and where and they get it sorted, however I have never used them as buying off ebay or etsy doesn't give you the chance to use that option.

I keep envisioning a set of bongos on top of a hill and someone drumming out 'Spana wants  canner, get it sorted ' :)
