Just one parsnip & one carrot between us with the dinner today.

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Might have been better if you'd cooked them first!!  :D
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

Nobody else is going to do it for me!

That's why they were as crunchy as the pork crackling!

Parsnips - Javelin F1
Carrots - Wanganui Giant from NZ.

Think I'm more jealous of the fact you managed to get them out of the ground (now -1.7C and falling!)

At least I know why we eat Sprouts at Christmas - they are a lot easier to find under 8" of snow than Carrots or Parsnips, though we did have all three.

The bit where the carrots and parsnips are sees the sun for the best part of the day. Had a real job getting the Christmas veg out though.

My half plot is shaded and rock hard. The spring cabbage look very sorry for themselves.

Do these large varieties taste as good as smaller ones?  Probably a silly question as I doubt you would grow something that didn't.

I had to fight to get some leeks out and I cut a very sorry looking minicole cabbage (last one of these :() but the savoys look untroubled by the cold :) Their time has now come, bless them :D

I've got no fresh veg left at all.  The turkey babies ate everything that was left when I let them out of their shed at 5 weeks old!     :( :(  Their pophole opens onto my veg garden!!!  :D
