Well i have been watering them the last 2 weeks every few days but wasnt sure if i was supposed too? so fingers crossed i may get some leaves at some point?

what about garlic/ onion sets should they have a splash in this dry period even though you dont water them much normally?

Definately - my onion sets weren't doing much until I watered them and now they're starting well. Once their roots go down a bit it will be less of a concern.

Well at least my OH know what a potatoe trench looks like, but when we lived in Kent, he made a new lawn and left me a narrow border around a curved edge.  Just for quick colour, I planted a packet of annual seeds.  When they didn't come up, I said to him that was a waste of money, I planted a packet of seeds in there.  Oh he said, I kept weeding it everytime these little 'weeds' appeared.

I wouldn't mind, but he used to have his own landscaping business!!!

It was until a recession hit in the 80's.  he was still married then.  He bought 2 newsagents and his wife kept spending the money, and got herself a boyfriend, so they divorced and he lost nearly everything, so what I got was a very broke ex landscaper, newsagent, carpenter, and 18 years later, he's still broke!!!!!!!

Finally got to the shops today, on a mission to buy some more potatoes......... :? .....and the only ones I could find have really sprouted and got green leaves started.  I bought them anyway out of desparation.....do you think they are too far gone really?  They are the cherie variety.  I am hoping to get them in the ground tomorrow morning.   (and sneakily bought cucumber plants, chilli, and peppers and batavia......got some friends coming over next weekend and I am desperate for my veg plot to look like something is going on   )

That's interesting - why broad beans between the rows? - please expand.

Also if you are inclined to leave the spuds in after the leaves die down the sstem of the broad bean will mark the spot / row where you planted the spuds  :D   In addition the nitrogen that the bean rootss give off benefits the spuds too

Oh forgot to say Lady Chrystal in pots wll advanced ...
