Yet another scam methinks.
« on: September 24, 2020, 14:18 »
In today's emails I discovered one from the HMC and Tribunal Court Services saying I had incurred a £10 penalty charge and to pay it now or it would go up to £100. Er, yeah, right.
1) Sender's email address looks a bit iffy to me.
2) No name or address mentioned only that I am someone who resides in the UK which narrows it down a bit!
3) Doesn't state any details about where or when this so-called misdemeanour occurred.
4) Only used the car twice this month, once for a baptism and once to the local Post Office and both times was parked legally.
5) The £10 is a nice touch because if someone was scared by this they'd probably think oh well, it's only £10 so I'd best pay up. Nooooo! By paying this little sum online they'd have all your card details and would nick all your cash pdq.
6) Anything official such as this would be sent to you by post.

Nice try but pfffft!   :tongue2:

At work we get some training to recognize fraudulent e-mail.  Your reaction to the e-mail address was spot-on, as well as the other clues.
