raspberry canes given to me - help
« on: October 13, 2008, 10:31 »
Lovely gentleman has gvien me some raspberry canes from his lottie, for my garden - what do i do with them?

I dont really have room in my raised beds for them, but would they be ok in a very large pot (about 2 ft across), if i space them a bit?
Hoping to get a lottie in the next year so sould like to move them if we do

Thank you
Also - should i trim them down, some have leaves on them, some are jsut stick like - what should i do with them
just keep breathing................

They will be fine in a large pot, they will grow too the size of the pot (apparently).

I have no 'garden' or raised beds, and the Raspberry canes/bush I got from Lidl is in a large pot now!

Mine was just two sticks about 8-10 inches tall.

A few raspberry canes don't need too much room. I'd be tempted to find them somewhere along a fence instead of the pot.

I understand that, but not all of us have that option.

I have a paved yard in a rental property, and I am not allowed to pull up the paving. :(

I'd be tempted to make some more raised beds, to put on the concrete area. 2ft pots sounds like a reasonable compromise.
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".

The Yard is not very big, and I do not want to take away my sons playing area (he is 2 in december) that is why my name is on the Lottie list with the nasty lady!

With careful positioning (of beds or pots) and a minimum of training you could get the raspberries to arch over and make the most glorious den ever! ;) :D
