Now that ive ordered one , im thinking of all the things i can do with it so have a question.

In the display picture of most dyhydrators they have different products in different trays. Is this just for the display picture or can u actually do different products at the same time? i would have thought u might get a drip or two

Hi All, With reference to this dehydrator, I would like to make fruit leather but am not sure if this would be big enough. Could anybody who has this let me know if they have tried leather in theirs, and would I need to buy extra trays to do it, as the trays look to "holey" for the leather.

Sorry

I've been looking to buy one for fruit leathers too, On ebay the square, more expensive ones tipical!, have special sheets you buy for fruit leathers. I think but not sure that the round ones are just holey as you say.

Be interested to see my self, using the oven on fan only at the mo.
My favourite flavour so far is hedgerow, like the jam.

Worth a try tho, if anybody does try in in one of these cheaper dehydrator let us know please.

A quick update on my dehydrator from westfalia is after 4 workings days of them taking my money its still not even dispatched yet from Germany, excuse that they need to change the plug.

I've just ordered a Stockli from Juiceland.

You can buy Paraflexx sheets from them (and other places) to use when whatever you're drying might fall through the tray slots.

I read somewhere it is cheaper to buy the equivalent from a local supermarket, I have ordered one sheet to see what exacly it is but beleive it is teflon sheet like you can buy to line the oven or baking trays.

I received one of these for my birthday so just reading up what I can do with it.  Chillies are first on my list and some borlotti beans that are hanging about in the conservatory

It will be fantastic for drying herbs!  I hope

I've had my Stockli for a few weeks now.

Have dried apples and mango very succesfully.
Bananas go partialy black (despite using lemon juice as the books suggest). They are also very chewy not crisp like you buy in the shops.

Onions work very well.

Cherry tomatoes with a light sprinkle of sugar also dry well and make a good substitute for sun-dried tomatoes.

Turkey Jerky is brilliant, beef jerky is good but it might cost me a bit in dentist bills.

Tried fruit leathers, apple and plum went down well with the 13year old lad who will avoid eating fruit if at all possible. Tried apple, nectarine and courgette, I think I overdid the quantity of courgette. Apple and grape doesn't want to dry completely.  I used Paraflexx sheet cut to the size of the tray, also tried teflon oven liner which appears to be the same thing but about a fifth of the price, also tried a cheap oven liner from Aldi which isn't so good.
