:) I took 4 grandchildren to the plot after school to harvest their pumpkins. Excitement filled the air as we voted on the biggest, roundest, smallest etc. 6 pumpkins weighing 16; 24; 20; 19; 11 and 46 lbs!!!!!!! :D  4 of them went into the wheelbarrow and 2 pairs of children shared the carrying of 1 bag containing 1 pumpkin each. All was well until I lost control of the wheelbarrow  No real damage done and managed to persuade an upset  6 year old that his pumpkin was OK

Dug last two rows of king edward potatoes and not too bad. Few holes in some but mostly ok.
Trimmed some blackberry bushes speading onto path.
Picked last three cabbages as looking very scratty but under the tatty leaves were lovely white cabbages

Went down on sat, planted out some kale that's I'd been growing in pots red Russian and curley. Then netted the whole things and put planks round to weigh edges down.

Admired how quiet the site was

It's in the greenhouse along with the rocket drainpipes - lost all the last lot of salad to green cattypiddlers in the garden! ::)

Dug over the spaghetti squash bed as they are well and truly over.
Planted a load of lettuce seedlings in their place - lots of blue pellets of doom around them and horticultural fleece to cover.

My lovely nephews aged 5 & 7 came over with my sister to pick the pumpkins i've been growing for them for Halloween. I've never seen two such excited little boys!

Prepared my over-winter brassica bed and planted some Chinese Broccoli,  Chinese Cabbage, Pak Choi and Kale Nero Toscano. Most will give way to hardy cabbages later (except Kale). I have Pixie and April cabbages in pots at home getting ready. Covered tunnel frame with bird netting in hope that butterflies have gone or will 'use' the remaining Nasturtiums instead.
Dug up Cucamelons to store over winter.
Need strim grass - guess that's tomorrow's job.

Cleared the last of the potatoes (Desiree) and the plum tomatoes (Roma - they have been excellent.). Dug the compost from the tomato pots into the non-potato area. Weeded around the leeks and generally tidied. Picked some other stuff but that's for another place!

Edged/created a new bed from wood scraps on the plot and decided where I will have my wildflower section from next year - right next to the fruit cage. Figured that would help pollination...
