Mixed up rotting horse muck, some nettles  and water in two large buckets - preparing an exciting feast for the pumpkin patch. Six year old grandson gagged when I told him what my plans for the day were.

Dug over the patch where the onions were a few weeks ago.
Took excess leaves and side shoots off the celeriac and earthed up.
Weeded the whole bottom of the plot.
Picked the first french beans and another courgette ::)
Fed and mulched the courgettes and took off the leaves that were mildewy.

Not much on the plot today, as what we thought was a dead rodent in the garage, turned out to be a defrosted freezer that we think has probably been off for 5 weeks or so! Oh my god the stench was just terrible :-(
Cleaning that was top priority of the day!

When I did finally make it to the plot, gave the shed a complete clean out. I now actually know what i've got in there and can see it all!

Picked some bits for dinner, and now going to relax for the rest of the day.

Spend ytd: £293.44 (setting up plot 29 has been expensive) Harvest ytd: £163.93 (as at 8/8)

That must have been gruesome  :(  I think a relaxing end to the day is exactly what you need  :)  Fresh picked veg for dinner can't do any harm either  :)

Gruesome is the understatement of the year!
About to go and prep the freshly picked veg now, and blanch some beans, which will end up in the newly cleaned and defrosted offending device (actually wasn't the freezers fault, it was hubby's - he pulled the wrong plug out!)

Fridges and freezers stink when off for a while - even when empty of food!

I planted out my second sowing of leeks finally ( where the onions had been previously).
I trimmed the roots and leaves this time ( a la DD ;) -bit of an experiment as never done that before.
Was also chicken day so my turn to clean them out.
Dug a few vales sovereign taters for tea.

Then in the garden I removed the dead sweetpeas (saving as much seed as I could)
Moved some of the cape gooseberries from the main greenhouse to a baby growhouse as there is NO ROOM!!! :D

Besides the picked crops cleared the resultant space ready for the green manure. Also tackled the bolted celtuce bed. Put them in the new compost bin and started clearing the bed they were in.

Picked the last of the rhubarb for the year to make rhubarb and rosemary jelly. Swearing at it at the moment as it doesn't seem to be setting :/

Bizarre? I'd have thought rhubarb was riddled in pectin being so sharp ???
Did you use jam sugar or preserving sugar?
Lemon juice helps as do cooking Apple for pectin release ;)

Finished one of the four Deep beds I'm preparing this year and started on the last one.
I know it's not an Allotment.

Weede, watered the greenhouse and the celeriac, picked cucumbers, runners, beetroot, courgettes, sweet peas. Put onions to dry.

My 10 year old helper and I planted out the PSB and kale plants which have been desperate to get out of their pots for ages, watered, harvested and had a good chat to our plot neighbours.  Oh and somehow he managed to eat loads of blackberries while he did it and was covered in purple juice  8).  A lovely morning  :)
