As I wasn't feeling too well today, I gave the plot a miss and pottered in the garden. I pulled out a few weeds and planted up 2 pots and a hanging basket.

Sowed chitted sweetcorn, alderman peas and Melissa French beans, potted on tomatoes, rudbeckia, alpine strawberries, chillis and aubergines.  Hoping to get to the plot tomorrow with 4 year old in tow (wish me luck!)

gave everything a thorough watering this morning on the way home from my nightshift which should last well into the weekend, when it may rain  - but then it may not! ::)

I found getting to the plot with a 4 year old easy-peasy. Staying there for very long was altogether another matter.

Good luck!!  ;)

I stood in the sun and looked around, dreaming of what it will all look like in six weeks' time  :D

Popped up last night on my way home from work - beautiful evening.  Watched the birds collect bits and pieces for their nests.  Put the world to right with my neighbours and then watered all the strawberries and Dahlia's in my PT.  Put some potash on my onions and garlic and weeded around the garlic (just have to do around the onions at the weekend).  Came home feeling calm and relaxed. :D

went to the plot to start removing the weed ridden strawberry bed with the hope of replacing the alpine strawberries with normal ones, got a trug full of small plants, and I have only taken 18" off the end of the bed so far, 18 odd feet to go!!

We did ours the other week, what a job. Look lovely now though but took a firm hand to make those plants tow the line of order.

replanted the 120 odd strawberry plants into the strawberry stacks and pots at home, looking forward to many more hours clearing the bed. the other half plot wont be as easy as they were overrun by the raspberries.

104 pots of strawberries on, I still have a sixth of the bed that is rammed full of the things - and my bed is a lot smaller than yours by the sounds of it. At least cleaning off strawberry clods can be done sitting in the sun... :)

Opened up the poly door to let some air circulate.
Watered some of the plants inside.
Watered dry looking asparagus bed.
Watered salad leaves.
All done after work this morning! :)
One more night to go, then a few days on the plot!! 8)

worse still I have over 100 strawberry seeds just starting to germinate (about 10 up so far) - those will be destined for the plot - well some of them anyway.

Planted out some fennel plants.  Fennel apparently doesn't like root disturbance so I will be interested to see if they prosper.
Planted my sweet peas out.
Earthed up the potatoes.

Finished work at 7pm went straight to the lottie to water the veggies. just one more 12h shift then I'm  of for the weekend so I can catch up with the weeding and plant my peas, Noticed the police have been around and put up signs that they patrol the lottie regularly,so that's good news. :)
