spent most of today working on the rotovator, eventually got it started, but It wouldnt keep running, swapped out for spare carburettor and managed to get it running reasonably, unfortunately when I stopped it It wouldnt start easily. Thus I have given up on my 45 year old rotovator, ho hum out with the fork I think, my poor back is complaining already.

Emptied the greenhouse, swept, jet-washed, cleaned down with diluted Jeyes fluid, will jet-rinse before it gets dark (remembered to disconnect the pipes to the water butts before I started this time!)

Worst bit yet to come - finding new homes for half the stuff that was in there but shouldn't have been!
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

Put a new lock on my shed, put some bark chip down where my Coldframe is going, to stop weeds.
I was going to put bark chip on the path but decided to use stones, as there are plenty of them in the soil around here for free.  ::)

Ooooh you didn't, did you
Well the water in you water butt would have been clean and germ free - plants might not have liked it though!

Sowed 576 Hurst Greenshaft peas  and 64 red epicure broad beans in trays for the trading hut plant scheme.
Got really cold even in the greenhouse so I went and did some earth moving to warm myself up. Levelled (ish) the wooden frames I made for some raised beds which involved lots of taking soil out of one side and filling it in the other side.
Was quite muddy by the time I had finished and I was surprised that it was after 5.30pm and it was still light! The year is moving on..

Dug over 2 of the raised beds ready for peas and beans.  Also dug over another bed on plot 2 and planted 15 strawberry plants through weedsuppressant.

Actually had a decent enough day yesterday that we got to the allotment for 4 hours. Got 4 new beds dug and rotovated, we have started some seeds off inside as it is just far too cold here to plant anything out just yet.
Will buy some potatoes next week to go in soon hopefully. I hope the weather warms up soon, feel like an age since we had some nice warm weather
Gained an allotment on the 19th June 08, 135ft by 40ft! eekk. Finally after 4 years it is looking like an allotment and not a jungle

We have 5 lovely hens in the garden, fish, 2 dogs and 2 canaries

Good few hours today in the sun (bit chilly, but sunny!)

I moved 2 fruit trees from plot 39 to 37.  I then pruned and tidied an old tayberry.  Both jobs I should have done last year but it was too wet!  I then mulched the cut flower border, so it all looks tidy.

Caught up with other plotholders and got some lovely plot compliments!
Read about my allotment exploits at Ecodolly at plots 37 & 39.  Questions, queries and comments are appreciated at Comment on Ecodolly's exploits on plots 37 & 39

Went to lotty after work spent a few hour's weeding, put a shelf up in the shed. Was tempted to sow carrots,  but advised to wait until weather gets warmer. :D

Did some seed sowing in the kitchen:

Lettuces: 'Australian Yellowleaf'; 'Jack Ice'; 'Flashy Butter Oak'; Cos - 'Marshall' and Puntarella.
Perpetual Spinach
Cauliflower 'All the Year Round'
Chilli's: 'Aji Dulce' & 'Chilly Chilli' - both heatless.
Celeriac 'Monarch' (again)
Marigold 'Tall Scotch'
Parsley: 'Moss Curled 2' and 'Plain Leaved 2' Sure there's some myth about sowing parsley on St Piran's Day ??? - something grows well if sown on this day - can't quite remember!!

In pots/tubs for the greenhouse/garden:

Spring onion 'Crimson Forest'
Radish 'French Breakfast'
and Cultivated Italian Rocket

Made a bark path down middle of plot. Dug up the rest of the parsnips, celeriac, swede and turnips. Covered a patch to warm the soil before sowing beetroot. Put the cauliflower and red cabbage in the coldframe. Art home started this years celeriac
