Newly manured
« on: January 17, 2010, 20:35 »
Hiya everyone,

I have only just got around to putting some manure on the plot. I've put some manure from the chicken runs from last year. Just wondering if i can put my onion sets and potatoes into this soil? I've dug it in well!

Cheers for any info

Steve

Chicken poo is dead strong stuff as it has a very high nitrogen content.

Personally, I'd use it as a compost activator but your spuds will be ok.

Onions don't need/like that kind of intensive feeding.

The chicken poo could be used as a top dressing when the spuds are well underway.
Top tip for camping....don't go.
