Val's Green tomato chutney

It's terrible, not really.

I copied the recipe exactly, simmered it for three hours and filled ten 12oz jars.  It looks and tastes lovely with a slight hint of heat from the chili, very subtle.  When it matures it will be even better.

Some recipes say to put the tomatoes and onions in a mincer, don't.  Put on some nice music and chop them finely by hand.  The result will be far superior.
Cheese makes everything better.

I made some GTC this week and it is lush already - finished the first [small] jar today. I doubt if it will last the month it is supposed to mature. Whoops.

Can't eat mine just yet, they're for sale at a local festival in October.  Might just hold back a jar for myself. ;)

I made 20 jars (10lb toms) I made a few changes, I added more fresh ginger and around 30 very hot chili peppers, added cooking apples and it is so tasty and will age good, my first chutney more than happy with it, Thanks Val other than the added amounts as I my husband likes hot food, your recipe was helpful.

Tomorrow I will be making sauerkraut, got 15 cabbage heads and am looking forward to trying this.
