planted onion /shallot's last week now the weather has turned cold and wet, snow and freezing weather forcast are they hardy enough to make it through the bad weater ? :?

you are supposed to plant shallots on the shortest day - which is usually 21st December - so no probs there...

as an addendum to the shallot scenario - I do plant mine early as I said, as shallots need a long tim in the ground to reach a good crop, BUT I always save some as reserves and pop them in a deep seed tray filled with compost and put them in the col frame about late Jan and they catch up pretty quick!!
