There is another herbicide called Clopyralid that has apparently turned up in compost and growbags. It has been usually in bags that are claimed to be organic or peat free.

Clopyralid was also reported by Gardening Which, to have been in B&Q organic liquid tomato feed last year. While it was then removed from their shelves, I have heard of cases where gardeners were still using it this year with disastrous results, not having heard of the potential problem.

Pedro, what was the make of the growbags that you think had the problem, or had you used a liquid fertilizer?
I have heard of an expert plotter who had problems with some bought in compost.

I bought a growbag and 3 bags of compost both by Evergreen.
I always have toms on allotment and 4 more at home in 2 large pots so that the other half can pick at when passing by.
The ones on plot appear to be fine.
Those in pots were fine until planted in large pots with a mixture of grow bag and compost.
The top leaves are all twisted and narrow.
I will have to sow some more in the suspect compost to test or just throw the lot away.

just noticed a topic on tomato problems. It seems a lot are having similar problems and attributing it to high daytime temps and low night temps.
Does not account for those on plot being ok !!!

I note that the ones with the problem are planted in a mixture of grow bag and your own compost. Did you treat your lawn and add the clippings to the compost? Some lawn treatments contain clopyralid, a hormonal weedkiller.

Twas Aminopyralid. :(

It IS Aminopyralid. It's illegal to use old stock, but according to Dow Agroscience ads, has been re-licensed and can be sold again with new labelling  >:(
