Newbie - feeding question
« on: June 15, 2011, 22:26 »
Hello fellow plotties  :)

Have recently put up a polytunnel and have plenty of things planted but wondered about what to feed?  Unfortunately, didn't prepare the soil before planting so no manure of any kind is in the soil.  ::)

My question is, should I use tomato food on my veg and how often would you use it?

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Hi Mandy and welcome. :D

I'll move your question to polytunnel growing. :)

I'd just use Blood Fish & Bone sprinkled around everything for the rest of this year (apply every 6-8 weeks ) except the toms n cukes..tom feed for them of course.

Then you can concentrate on making/getting enough homemade compost/manure for adding in the winter to improve the soil ready for next year's early start :)

It's exciting isn't it  ;)

A good bfbone dressing should start things off well. Get some organic stuff dug in to keep the soil from drying out.

I'm uneasy about this desire not to fail.
