Brown/black potato leaves

Hello.

The leaves on the tops of my potato plants have gone brown/black.
We covered them this week to protect from frost so a bit disheartened to uncover them to find like this.
Is this likely caused by the frost or is something else at play here that I need to address?

That looks like frost damage to me. The plants should be ok though and recover. You don't need to do anything.

They look a sight healthier than mine, although I did cover them. At least yours still have some green leaves, so I would imagine they'll recover pretty quickly.

Frost damage. Don’t worry they should recover. No action needed.

you weren't the only one to get caught out. in the past I have found fleece touching the leaves and you will get some damage.
