Turnip Troubles
« on: May 04, 2008, 21:52 »
Hiya

I overwintered some turnips for turnip tops this spring and they did me proud - in fact too proud, they bolted!!  There are some small (ranging from tiny to approx 1inch across) roots on the plants and as I've cut the turnip tops down leaving a few leaves, I'm wondering whether the roots will actually grow any further and be edible?  Should I be patient or should I clear them out?

Thanks!!

Clear out. You get turnip tops from very young turnip.

Thanks gobs,

All cleared and what roots there were grated into a salad - don't think I'll bother with that lot next year - to much 'faffing' for a few leaves - you live and learn!!  :?
