mumof4 listen they are taking you for a ride tell them to buy there own tunnel

trust me if you let them put toms in your Polly then you are asking for trouble

cos it wont stop there it will be oh could you just put this in and that too

before you know it your growing all there stuff and nowt of your own

JUST SAY NO

at the end of the day its upto you but if you say ok then you are a mug sorry to be blunt but thats the truth

i know what happens cos i have been there my self

I agree 100%. Its a different story if its one of your freinds asking but in this case as the above poster wrote, there,s a very high risk that once you,ve set precedent letting one or two use the tunnel as sure as eggs are eggs, more and more people WILL think they have a right to use it as well.
I used to work in a helium gas factory, but I walked out, no one talks to me like that.

You're right skip rat - when you let people have a favour the next thing is they think it's their right.

"oh, you're using your rotovator, I wanted to do my plot today and it's my only day off" sticks in my mind.  When I ran out of petrol did they offer to get some??

On the other hand, most of the allotment holders I've met are generous with time, plants and help. I'd never have got my big greenhouse up without Larry and Gianni who spent the whole day and more helping.

hmmm helping friends and neighbours to do odd jobs or even help putting up a shed and suchlike is fine and is how it should be but trying to "borrow" space in anyway is a bit of a cheek, you have to be on the ball as people can catch you off guard.... like the time I took over an allotment from an old timer, a neighbour had a wormery on a bit of his (now my) plot and asked if he could leave it there for a while, that was two years ago and no sign of it moving yet - I have now left a note on his shed asking if I could have a bit of his plot in exchange for the bit he is using on mine IF he wants to leave it where it is, I expect that will do the trick!!  Other than that its a moan to the committee, not ideal....
