Cold frame..

hi

i,ve just found a space well hads some under growth removed..lol
so it a good place for a cold frame.. now how do i make one..

simple one please as i,m not good with wood work.

space i have is about 6 ft x 8 ft..

The easiest way would be to get an old wardrobe or some such, put it in its back with a bit of plastic on the top.

I've made two from scrap wood and old windows. It's not hard.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

If you can't source any old windows, an old shower screen might be easier to find in a skip or somewhere. OH just built a coldframe using a found bi-fold shower screen as the top.  :)

Hi sorry to sound thick but what sort of things do you grow in a cold frame, and can I use double glazed windows?

They're very good for hardening things off before planting out and for bringing on seeds like leeks that don't need any warmth.
Double glazing would be OK although maybe a bit heavy.

Cold frames are also good for plants that do not like wind.
