My son in law grows them in a pot and they do well. They do get watered every day though.
They produce just the right amount for the two of them.

Marvellous!

I have some nice big 30L pots (1 grow bag per pot), so I should be able to grow enough plants to freeze too :)

It will actually be a relief to have a reason to use my "leaked" water rather than just throwing it away.

I grow some of mine in pots about 10 inch across and 12 inches deep and they are very happy two to a pot on 7ft canes. And I get a good crop with them.

I have always done them and my runner beans in pots and larger tubs as it lets me move them about the garden if I need to and frees up space in my raised beds.

That's useful information as I am trying that this year, however I have put around 10 french beans in a pot 10" diameter. They look OK so far.

I think that is far to many to be honest, I do two in a smaller pot although you could get away with 3 or perhaps 4. In a large tub (half whisky barell size) I put 6 or 7 plants and they climb on 6 canes 7ft or 8ft and they create a very dense covering on the canes.

I suspect you are right, Kergan. They do look a bit close together and if they branch out they will be very crowded.
