Title: Bantam girls
Post by: chickenlady on February 06, 2010, 19:02
A couple of my bantam girls and 1 of my Lf that i hatched last year have suddenly developed bald patches on the front of their throats just under their chins????  ??? I am baffled? has anyone seen this before? they are healthy, laying really well, and are given layers pellets with garlic and poultry spice (as my big girls are moulting) it has started to happen this week, I thought they were too young to moult yet? and its strange that it is just under their chins! any help would be welcomed!

no! the mesh on their run in half inch mesh! i did wonder if it was the fact their run is about half a foot higher than the house and maybe the fact they were looking out then jumping up but why has it just started to happen now? they have always been in that house and run!

Hi I have two little rhode island red bantams like this they have been like it for about 2 years at first I thought they were being feather pecked, they are perfectly healthy  i even asked the vet he did'nt know what would cause it, its almost like little squares of feathers  missing under their chins

perhaps you will have to spend the day relaxing studying in the garden and just watch them to see what they do - which means Rob and the kids can do the dinner and cleaning for you  :D
