from incubator to broody??
« on: April 28, 2008, 14:32 »
7 days away from incubator hatch and i have a large fluffy cochin that has gone broody. I occurs to me that i might be able to do away with the whole weeks under lamps and slip the eggs under her and she will do the rest. Is this notion pie in the sky or a cunning cunning plan  :?:
If you do things well, do them better. Be daring, be first, be different, be just.

Interesting! I have absolutely no idea....how reliable is your incky? I know if eggs fertile hatch rate for broodies is a lot higher at 89% . However bit of a risk at this stage?
I know of some people that have slipped just hatched chicks under broody mums successfully.
