Confused about watering or not watering

Confused about watering or not watering

I know this might sound silly but should I be watering my potatoes, onions, shallots and garlic in this dry weather?? I get so confused  ???

Personally, I would give them a good drenching with a sprinkler device and leave it for at least an hour. It's surprising how much water it takes to penetrate to a reasonable soil depth. Potatoes will certainly benefit but the allium family can take a bit more dryness. Stick your finger well down into the soil and go by this as when to water.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

If you choose to water as said before make sure it is a really good drenching. Don't faff around with a couple of watering cans full, you really need to thoroughly soak the ground, any less and you will do more harm than good as the roots will end up close to the surface looking for an easy drink. Further dry weather will then be bad for the plants.

Thorough soaking or not at all!!
