just lifted my hardneck (music)and I read that hardneck garlic does not store very well .I was planning on keeping the larger ones  to replant in oct/nov, would they store that long  to replant or would I have to buy new stock ,would be grateful if any one has any experience of this  thanks

Keep them dry and cool and they easily last long enough to replant

The only reason mine won't store that long, when I lift them, is that I didn't buy enough to plant and they'll run out by being eaten.

pvc, you'll be planting them out in Nov so they should easily last that long, unless you do an argyllie and eat them all

The Music I grew last year has stored very well. In fact I'm just finishing off the last few cloves now. Only in the last few weeks has it started to go soft.

When I harvested them last summer I made sure they were thoroughly dry before storing. I had them loosely packed in a box in my kitchen of all places, in a cupboard on a northish facing wall.

thanks for the advice I have a number a r of good size bulbs  which I intend to use,should I leave them whole or break them to obtain the largest bulbs to replant,all the advice is encouraging since the presumption they dont store that well and intend to use the smaller ones first thanks

Only break up the garlic bulbs into individual cloves for planting at the last moment.
