the first thing that crossed my mind was some sort of poisening, will tell him to try the cider vinager, lucky bird, he's got 24 hours reprieve, ta muntjac, the lads a new starter, and he's only got me to turn to, poor * :lol:  :lol:

Yes...  I think your right Muntjac.  Although Marek's is quite common it is very infectious and he would not be the only one with it (unless he has been sourced recntly from a different flock).  There can be a form which is just neural where they get paralysis and difficulty breathing, sometimes diarrhea and weight loss because they are too poorley to eat well.  But if he's a year old he should be too old for it, it's generally only found in chooks up to 40 weeks old.  

Poisoning is a good thought though !  Not just slug pellets could be something else  :?

Slug pellets can also poison food plants if put near them while they are growing  :shock:

the bird is looking decidedly better this afternoon, he's treading hens succesfully, but he's still wobbling a bit, and lifting his feet up in a exagerated manner when he walks, the lads going to put him on cider vinegar tomorrow, will keep you up to date, and thanks again.

Wow brilliant, I hope he mades a good recovery.  Get "the lad" to check around for poisons though, just incase  :wink:

had a look at the cockerel this morning and he was strutting around as proud as can be, went to have a look at him after dinner, and he was on his side, there was only one thing to do :(  :(
