I look after the church garden and we have lots of raised beds that I usually grow veg in.  This year the slugs have decimated most of them.  I have started to transplant veggies but they seem to still go for them and only a few beans/peas/leeks/chard seem to have survived.  Beetroot, carrots and lettuce have been the worst hit. 

I have lots of empty beds that I would like to fill with things that won't get eaten whether they be veg or flowers.  Any advise as to what can be sown or planted now that will look good in September.  We are having a music festival in the space mid September so it would be good to have the space looking good for then.

You could do worse than try and get a job lot of geraniums (the bedding types) from a local nursery or garden centre.  Slugs tend to leave them be and they flower well into the autumn.

Gazanias are also good - leathery leaves that tend to get left alone.

What about poppies or a wildflower mix?
