My sister-out-law has a Stihl FS 36 4 stroke petrol bent shaft strimmer (not brushcutter) that came with her house (left in a shed). Its mine if I want it but it is obviously faulty. When you flick the switch to "run" and pull the starter cord there is only resistance on the actual pull cord (i think from the pull cord spring) but it doesn't turn the engine over let alone fire.
A very quick internet search reveals that these sell for about £90 second hand (I'm not looking on that auction site!). Is it worth repairing? What could the possible fault be? Obviously it wasn't a cheap tool brand new

I work in plant and tool hire and find them a great tool, unlike some cheapo makes that cost the same!! :tongue2: :tongue2:
Parts should be readily available if you're willing to repair it yourself or, take it to a local tool hire shop. They will/should be able to do it. It only sounds like the pull cord is not engaging with engine, simple fix I hope for you.

I was hoping it may be an easy fix, I'll ring the sister-out-law and tell her not to skip it. I didn't want to see a quality tool go to the dump :(
