:D  Heeey everyone..im off to the plot again today!! I get soo exited!!...Yesterday i bought a rasberry potted thingy *blushes* from our local garden centre...i was just wondering when the best time / place to plant it out would be??..thank you guys!! x x x

I'm not too good with fruit but I'd get it into the ground asap.

When you plant out from a pot, the roots have been sitting in a nice easy bit of peaty compost so they tend to avoid going into that nasty soil and go round and round.  If you dig a hole a bit bigger than required, add some compost and then plant it helps make sure the roots spread out.

Having said that, I've a feeling the roots stay shallow with raspberries.

Im mixed so potash with my compost b4 i planted mine, i have heavy crops every yr off it and it still looks healthy lol

Is there anything else i can feed my apple trees with? i sprinkle and fork in the potash but never get a really good crop :(

i found with raspberries that because they root so shallowly(?) its very difficult to keep the weeds away -you really cannot hoe so it has to be done by hand. when i move mine from the garden i will probably grow them through black plastic, thus easing the back ache :lol:

I grew bush tomatoes outdoors through a weed control mat, this allowed the water to get to the ground as it's porous.

Our local pound shop has 1.5M x 1.5M mats in - maybe worth looking around.
