Title: Winterval drinks
Post by: New shoot on September 29, 2015, 08:36
Who is doing what this year for special drinks for gifts and sharing this year.  I have a few on the go, but its always interesting to hear what other ideas people have had  :)

Mine are :

Gooseberry gin - still steeping
Raspberry vodka - raspberry brew complete and currently in the freezer waiting for me to buy vodka to mix with it
Plum and vanilla brandy - due to strain today which will leave me with a quantity of very alcoholic plums - I'm not seeing this as a bad thing  ;)

I harvested quince yesterday before the frost got to them and they are on the windowsill to ripen up and get scented.  I've got quince brandy in mind for some of them  :)

Now that sounds good ! Re the marmalade I like the sound of that too. Just sent off via t'internet, a bottle of Chase marmalade vodka (made locally to us) to my son for his birthday, but haven't tried it myself but it did take my fancy ☺️

We continually make Christleton, rather like people make jam or chutney...! It takes a couple of hours, and it's not a non-stop job, so you can do other things at the same time. It's a dried elderberry and cider wine - incredibly easy and quick -, and it's really all we ever have - apart from the odd beer or Scotch when we have a celebration! Got a regular glass of Chris here as we speak!

I did have a Leffe beer when I'd finished tiling the bathroom today, but that was a celebration really..;0)
