Title: Wow the smell from the kitchen is amazing
Post by: Beetroot Queen on April 09, 2014, 13:00
The girls 13 and 2 are making leek and bacon bread and garlic and rosemary bread.

Wow it smells divine. Bread for tea then, my mouth is watering just smelling it.

They have just made oat cakes, tasteless lumps of Nigella-ness but they would work with pate, cheese and chutney, shame florence cant eat any of that as they are suitable for her.  ::)

I some times wonder if the tv cooks are conning us with the flavour of things when you watch the program google the recipe and then make it and get disappointed with the flavour after watching the tv chief licking spoons and making satisfying grunts like its the most tasty thing around .

Maybe you put less salt in. I've been told that the way top chefs make their food seem so tasty is that they salt it "to within an inch of its life". That much salt and its within an inch of my life!

Hope you enjoy the bread, Beetroot Queen.

You get told to add salt & pepper to taste - and some things especially tomato sauces do really need a lot to balance the flavours, or they are tasteless.

Up to you whether you choose to use less than really needed, in some people  it increases blood pressure, fortunately I'm not one of those  :)

I find tomatoey sauces need a hint of sugar to bring the rich flavours out ;)
