Pleasure Derived From GYO
« on: July 20, 2009, 10:29 »
Ive just realized that I get as much pleasure in giving away my produce than I do from eating it.
Does anyone else feel the same ?

Yes and always have. Only thing that tops is when my grandaughter runs to her mother with the stuff she has grown in her little plot in my garden just as proud and as eager to give her stuff away.

There are 3 of us on our road that have an allotment so between us we keep the whole street supplied!!! also in laws and my parents get plenty ,whatever we can freeze we do but the rest gets given away or our friends chooks get it . I get great satisfaction not just from growing and eating it but sharing it around also. :) :)

I agree with you jonnyboy.  I probably give away about half of some veg I grow and I absolutely love it.

I wouldn't be cultivating 800 sqm if I kept it for myself!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I've been on my allotment for a mere 6 days and have already been given a round courgette and a cucumber.

In fact, I was given the cucumber as I was returning shears, as some kind of extra reward.

VERY nice people on my allotment plot.

I'm a first year learner and I have over done it with the lettuces, I have given them too family and friends in work - I've told them they are organic and to eat fast as they won't keep like the supermarket junk - I am now getting requests for more.
Now that makes all the weeding and digging and the failures seem like its worth it  :)

Gonna plant some more once I get the spuds out

Im a selfish so and so! But in my defense, I dont know how much I will need yet for my family of five. If i do have to give anything away in the future Im sure I wont mind too much

I do like to give away seedlings and cuttings though, practically force them on people! Ive got about 12 cuttings of two different Ivys to get rid of, and I still cant resist doing more as its so easy
