  The leaves on my pumpkin plants are all dying back caused by mildew, the pumpkins are a nice orange colour and I was wondering how you know when the fruit are ready to cut and how long they keep once cut?

Leave them on the plant as long as possible to harden the skins, and to improve the taste if you're going to eat them.
