Is it possible to get an email notification when there is a reply or response to a post, or do we have to just check by opening up the website?

Yes you can. Under you post you have the green tabs:
Reply     Notify     Mark as unread    send this topic    Print

Just hit the notify button.
I always get notifications but cant remember how I set that up!! But I think I must have done it as I've stated!
