[Missie]

Hi,I ventured to Melton Mowbray yesterday and picked up five pure breed cuckoo marans,they are just under 1 year or age,trouble is I have never know such vicious hens!

I believe they were kept in the dark due to having very pale faces but they scream the place down if you handle them and peck you-I now have several peck holes on my hands and arms.Has anyone else ever had a problem with cuckoo's.I have an older Cuckoo maran-Mary and she has to be the most placid and friendly hen! I just find it very bizarre!

I've not had Marans but my friends has various ones and she loves them as she says they're so placid. She just lost one of hers to a fox and one to old age and I know they're her faves

I suppose they just have to get used to you and they'll settle down. Someone on here with more knowledge than I will be along shortly

I found the prices brilliant,Drakes only £1.00!!-filled my pond up hehe! Last  time purchased 8 Lohmanns,point of lay,very healthy birds for £28.00..300 metres of 4ft electric fence £55.00 I thought that was a bargain.Game burgers and venison sausages in rolls £2.00 each-yummy

I think you are right Aunty,I had to pick them up tonight to put them to bed-my word,sounded like they were being throttled!
