drying beans

not sure where this should be - here or cooking and preserving, will let the mods decide.... if thats ok with you

i have harvested the runner bean beans from the pods to save for eating and wondered how best to dry them - spread out on paper in warmish room, in a low oven ?

thanks in advance

and when re hydrating them i guess i should boil for 10 mins then clean water and cook

I just freeze mine then just add them to stews and casseroles. Have never actually bothered drying them.

If you are expecting very wet or frosty weather, remove the pods and spread them out in a well-ventilated place (not necessarily a hot one), where air can move over and beneath them. They’ll soon be dry enough to pack into airtight jars. To test, squeeze a bean between thumb and fingernail. If the bean is ready, your fingernail will leave no imprint.

If you freeze runner bean beans do they still need boiling for 10 minutes or is it only dried beans that contain toxin?  ??? ???

As far as I'm aware it is only soya beans and red kidney beans that have to have the boiling time.
(10 mins red beans 1hr soya beans), so runners and green bean seeds are no problem at all :)

I am still alive to tell the tale anyway :D
