It is bocking 14.
Cut down two plants to about 12".
Put through the garden shredder. Filled a pillow case allowing for knotting and put into a 100 liter water butt and filled just above halfway.
 Is that to much water?
How far should you cut it down?
The plants were planted out last year.
Note took more than just leaves, hollow stems left behind. Doing that meant the shredder pulled them through.

Hi CC
I started brewing this year as well. John recommends 6-7kg to 100L. Sad girl that I am I actually weighed mine and I chopped down 4 fully grown plants to get this. I just chopped them up with shears and stuffed them into a couple of hessian sacks. This was my 2nd brew my first my plants were a little on the small side about 3 weeks ago so I only chopped down 2 and I only got 500gm.

If you look at different posts on comfrey everyone has a different method. Some take shears and chop down to about 3 inches off the ground. Others have left a few flowers for the bees so have chopped or pulled off leaves to allow this. So there is no right or wrong way.

Hope that helps
