Sadly most of the Roundup here will be banned as of April 22nd. Not quite sure why or whether farms will also be affected.

Roundup's active ingredient glyphosate was said to break down in the soil and for this reason has been used by many people as 'nearly organic'  or the acceptible herbicide

However it seems it doesn't always break down that rapidly( half life up to 140 days )and residues have been left in the soil and on crops. It has also been shown to have adverse effects on various soil organisms including earthworms and microrrhizal fungi.

I wouldn't use it

If you put "glyphosate half life" into Google, you can take your choice of which one to believe.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Thanks to you all for your help on this one. I'm going to use newspaper and carpet to smother the weeds - I've been looking at the bushes today and the leaves are too near the ground for me to take a chance with the Roundup, but I'm certainly going to get the bloomin' nettles with it at the top of the plot!

I've been thinking about getting a weed-killer-roller to apply weed killer carefully to just selected spots.  I think it would also be useful in my lawn (using selective weed killer) as the lawn has been manicured :) for a few years and is now pretty much weed-free - using Weed-and-Feed on the whole lawn is a waste of money and chemical

Anyone got any experience of it? Link below with a little video that got my excited as to its possibilities!

Not seen the roller before although I have used a Microwipe.

The microwipe is good but the wick needs cleaning quite often and it does drip if you do not get the adjustment right. I can see the roller having the same complaints but it looks useful.
