Freezer door left open....
« on: August 10, 2020, 15:52 »
Hi All need your opinions, left the freezer door slightly open and all out vegies defrosted still cold inside but defrosted. Can we re freeze them as they need to be cooked or put in the bin :( They have been blanched.

IMO you'd have to cook them if you want to re-freeze - once things are cooked you reset the clock as it were, as far as freezing is concerned

I suspect most of us have done that with the door.  I  would just re-freeze them.    But then I do not conform to the rules,  but I am still here     Mrs Bouquet

Thanks, we noticed it at 2am on the way to the loo..... :) so closed the door so could not cook them at the time so they just got re froze. we bined the ice cream lucky we had no meat in there but thought as the veg needs cooking it would be okay. such a shame to waste a freezer full of goodies.

Pity you binned the ice cream.  When that happened to us I just whipped it into a fruit jelly and made a mousse.

I suppose it depends how long it was open, but I'd just refreeze and cook as you would have done.  As long as you bring them to the boil, I'm sure they'll be fine.  The texture may be compromised a bit, but they'll be perfectly safe to eat.
