What is this on my broad bean and is it serious?
« on: April 16, 2021, 14:09 »
I have 7 plants, mostly healthy but one has developed some ugly blemishes. Unfortunately a previous one did as well and I pulled it up but it hasn’t prevented its neighbour from succumbing. I’m worried it’s going to spread to all of them. Thanks for any  advice.

I might be wrong. But it looks more liki frostbite than a disease. I also think we are still having a very cold period to get any disease.

I agree, those were my thoughts too  :D

One of mine has developed similar but it cant be frostbite as it is in a container and is moved into the garage every night by my husband. I was wondering about some kind of fungal disease?

A cold wind during the day can cause the same effect, doesn't have to be a night frost  :(

Thanks everyone. They actually don’t look too bad at the moment and seem healthy enough. Fingers crossed it was a bit of frost bite. I do find with broad beans though that by the time the pods are harvested the plants look pretty ropey. At the moment they have flowers only.
