Question On Advanced Slug Pellets
« on: May 04, 2011, 19:03 »
Anyone used Advanced Slug Pellets?

I put some around the edges of my plot as far as possible from plants, but worry about any run-off into soil closer to plants. It's claimed to be 'safe' yet there are warnings featured on the bottle itself, so I'm a touch confused and slightly concerned if veg could take up  any nasty stuff.

Are my concerns misplaced?

I do feel that Advanced slug pellets is a "safe" product in that the active ingredient is a salt of iron and phosphate, which both occur natuurally in soil, whereas the traditional slug killers contain either metaldehyde or methiocarb which are unfortunately also poisonous to animals other than slugs and snails.

As with any chemical product you should only use as directed.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

I use them perfectly happily and I believe they are approved by the organic association (ex-HDRA, can't remember the proper title for now)
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
