Kohl rabi is a lovely veg for coleslaw.  I believe its where the name coleslaw comes from :)

I've never had a lot of success with kohl rabi but I do make small regular sowings of turnips every few weeks through the summer and try to pick them at tennis ball size. Turnips are also easy to grow in containers if you have limited space.

I have had more success with turnips than khol rabi.

We eat turnips when they are between 1 and 2 ins across.

Khol rabi seem to grow really slowly and go woody very quickly. Others seem to grow them OK, so I'm not sure what I do wrong

For Kohl Rabi I recommend the variety Gigant from real seeds while stocks last!

They grow HUGE (I had 1 over 2kg!) and not woody at all. I start them in modules, transfer to small pots then out onto the plot when established.
