Bug ID please..
« on: June 28, 2015, 09:30 »
Garlic and marigolds are not proving to be the lethal combo that I'd hoped for in the Blackfly War, but I am persisting - now this morning - something new!
Little clusters of beasties tucked into the folds of the growing tips, (broad beans) as usual - as well as on the beans themselves, but today a lot of them seem to have changed. They've got big see-through wings!
They sit in little groups with a pair of wings sticking straight up - like a butterfly holds itself. The wings are see-through and grey and give the appearance of a little grey haze hovering over the blackfly. Is this another stage of their development? Are they packing up in readiness to leave my beans alone???? (The damage having been inflicted, I fear.)
Carpe Diem

I believe that will be the adult blackfly readying themselves to fly off to 'nurture' other plants...  >:(
