Mixed corn or wheat
« on: April 02, 2014, 09:09 »
I have 3 seperate pens with hens in each.Started last year when i hatched 6 in the incy.Son in law then got 3 ginger pullets given having lost some light sussex hed had running with a cockerell, then a few weeks ago I got 4 Old English Pheasant fowl given. So the 3 lots are seperate. The thing is the 1st lot that I hatched are always the last to go in at night,it has to be virtually dark so i am thinking of throwing corn or wheat into the coop to train them to go in,which is the best wheat or corn. Thanks

I think it depends on what they really really like - my lot are not that fussed about mixed corn (which is 15% corn and 85% wheat BTW) but sweetcorn and dried mealworms are to die for  ;)

Whatever they go for this should train them quite quickly to come in. I would use a call command as well :)
