Thanks for the welcome, sorry about the nameonly i'm a member of the chicken forum as well.
My first passion is homebrew though, been doing it for 25yrs on and off with mixed results I can tell you.
I dont buy kits or make beer or lager, iv'e tried with poor results.
Cider and wine for me, cheaper the better and i'm going to sample a few tonight with my neighbour....Aden

Hi  Hen Night

  welcome I am also new ish to the forum.  I am a keen home brewer also.  But I love brewing beer as I type there is 6 Gallons of bitter boiling.  I was deeply disapointed with kits and now use malted grains and hops just like most micro brewers.  The results are great with most people not believing I made it.

  Also do wine from kits but these have become expensive of late.

Hi Paul, iv'e never been able to make a good beer or lager for some reason, so hav'nt tried for years. Sounds like you've cracked it though if they dont believe you've made it.
I cannot comment on kits because the only time I use them is when the are given as a gift, just done a youngs strawberry..not bad at all... Aden.

I've done the Woodfordes Wherry kit and it was fantastic (£22 squids but still cheaper than the pub).
Is it complicated to make from scratch Paul?

It's a really tasty ale Hen-night and makes about 5 gallons. They sell it in Wilkos. 

Down to my last 5 litres of ginger beer stompy.    Still...ginger & lemon in the kitchen...cauldron at the ready...
