Title: Wrong seeds
Post by: Newplot1951 on August 03, 2021, 10:19
Has anyone else found that some of the seeds they bought were a different variety from that named on the packet?  It often happens to a very small degree but this year it seems to be happening more frequently.  I bought courgette seeds (variety Zucchini)  and they were all a yellow variety.  The first packet said there were an average of five seeds in the pack but there was only one.  The second pack held only seeds for yellow fruits.  Peas were  a similar problem.  My first bed was supposedly all Kelvedon Wonder but a good third of the plants were a much taller variety.  The second bed, again all Kelvedon, were almost all a much taller variety.  My Calabrese seems to be all purple instead of the usual green.  These are not the only examples, just the most noticeable.

Welcome to the forums  :)

That does sound extreme; I'd definitely be taking photos and sending them to the seed supplier ...

I had an issue with Scotch Bonnet seed from two different suppliers in successive years both turning out to be small mild bell type peppers. Probably a lucky escape
