simple but obviously effective although I doubt it would work for ever - Mr fox would soon get used to those fluttering bags  :(
Staffies are softer than you think.

Agree, but it gives me time to think of something else ::)

I've added some more plastic bottles today and put a few bits of gravel in each one.  When the wind blows them they make a nice rattling sound :)

sorry if this upsets some people - but my only suggestion would be a shotgun.  Once they have the taste of blood in your chicken coop - you are always going to have a problem.

I know it will come to that in the end but  while i have holiday makers here and as the wild life is a big attraction i cant go about shooting it.

You mention holiday makers etc, is a silenced rifle at night not a better option? What they don't see...  ;)

Talk of shooting a fox is easier than actually doing it. How many people actually get the opportunity.  A fox doesn't hang around.

No, but more often than not it will come if you call it. Or if you know someone with a working terrier, dig it out.

The Hunting Act 2004 permits the use of no more than one terrier below ground at any one time "for the purpose of preventing or reducing serious damage to game birds or wild birds which a person is keeping or preserving for the purpose of their being shot". The Act also stipulates conditions about permission and the welfare of both the dog and the fox. This is sometimes referred to as "the gamekeeper's exemption", although the Act does not specify that the exemption only applies to gamekeepers.
